Responsibilities

The Economic Development Division provides services to stimulate economic growth and to retain existing businesses in the city. The division actively recruits new companies to the region by marketing to and working directly with corporations and relocation consultants. The division works with existing businesses to provide opportunities for stability and growth. In addition, the division actively works to contribute to quality of life, which drives economic development, through downtown events, tourism, and civic partnerships.

Goals and Objectives

  • Expand and Diversify the economic base of the City of Griffin
  • Promote and expand upon the Tourism resources of the City of Griffin
  • Work with local, state, regional and non-profit organizations to promote revitalization of the business districts in the City of Griffin where more investment is needed and there is redevelopment potential

Strategic Location

Strategically located between Atlanta and Macon, Griffin has much to offer new or relocating businesses -- an available and affordable workforce, UGA-Griffin Campus, Southern Crescent Technical College, and Griffin Regional College and Career Academy located within the City limits, over 900 acres of Business and Industrial parks, a strong school system, solid utility infrastructure and low cost of doing business.
