The City of Griffin and Spalding County are kicking off the first Family Field Day as part of the
#summerinthecity2024 event series.
Family Field Day is free to attend, with lunch included. Parents and children, elementary school-aged and up, are invited to participate in fun games and water activities set up around the soccer fields at Wyomia Tyus Olympic Park.
Starting at 10AM, families will rotate through 10 stations, taking a lunch break at the playground sponsored by the Spalding County Sheriff's Office. Stations are hosted by the Department of Natural Resources, Georgia Project WET, Newman Wetlands Center, UGA Spalding County Extension, Southern Crescent Technical College Horticulture Department, Spalding County, City of Griffin Stormwater Department, Griffin Golf Course, and others. There will also be multiple hydration stations, with an inflatable water slide to help keep everyone cool. Parents and children are encouraged to wear clothing that can get wet.
Parents are required to stay at the event; no drop-offs will be allowed. Parents are not required to participate in the activities. There will be a viewing area in the shade. At check-in, a participation waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian for each child.
