The Criminal Investigation Division, is led by Captain Homer Daniel. The division investigates crimes including Homicide, Rape, Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Burglaries, Thefts, Forgery & Fraud, juvenile offenses and any other crime against an individual or property.
Detectives are assigned cases that they manage, collect information and evidence for identifying, apprehending and convicting offenders. Each detective is trained to handle any kind of investigation. Routinely they are called out to assist patrol division on calls requiring the gathering of evidence and information and to determine if a crime has been committed warranting further investigation.
Captain Homer Daniel
Captain Homer Daniel is a 34-year veteran of the Griffin Police Department. He has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and is a POST Certified Instructor. Captain Daniel has taught numerous criminal justice courses at Southern Crescent Technical College. Throughout his tenure at the Griffin Police Department, he has served in various departments including Patrol Division, SRO (school resource officer) and the Community Oriented Policing program. With a strong desire to help children in the community he volunteers at various Spalding County elementary schools in a reading to students program, as well as serving as coordinator of the mentoring program with Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
