Each year the City of Griffin Stormwater Department holds at least one Rivers Alive Stream Cleanup that covers over eight streams and Heads Creek Reservoir.  Volunteers pull out upwards of two tons of trash.  The removal of this trash creates a cleaner and safer environment for wildlife and improves water quality for all.  If you are interested in helping with scheduled stream cleanups, or hosting your own, contact Alexa Robinson at City of Griffin Stormwater at arobinson@cityofgriffin.com or 470-771-3358.

Heads Creek Reservoir Cleanup!

Events like this would not be successful without a key ingredient, which is our wonderful volunteers and participants. It is always wonderful seeing so many people come together to help their community. This year’s groups included several Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts troops, 4-H groups from Spalding and Lamar County, Spalding High School, Griffin High School, Young Lives Griffin, Fresh Start Christian Church, Gordon State College, the Griffin Environmental Council and our excellent citizens of Griffin!
