A watershed is the geographic area through which water flows across the land and drains into a common body of water, such as a stream, river, lake, or ocean. Most of the water that flows across the land comes from rainfall and stormwater runoff. Agriculture, mining, urban development, roadways, and human activities affect the quality and quantity of stormwater runoff and pollution from a watershed will ultimately lead to another body of water. Watershed Management is the process of implementing land use practices and water management practices to protect and improve the quality of water and other natural resources within the watershed by identifying pollutants and reducing or eliminating these sources.
